Many times excuses come in the way of us completing or achieving a goal or getting things done. We spend time focusing on unimportant things and waste time making excuses on why we can’t do this or do that. We procrastinate most of the time and blame having a lack of time to get things done. For example, we may say, when I have time I will start working out, when it gets warms I’ll start walking or when I get some extra money I’ll start working towards a goal etc.
Every time we make an excuse, it distances us from our goals and we take a longer time getting to where we should be instead of getting it done. We blame it on our busy schedules, lack of funds, lack of time, lack of support and lack of rest. However, if it is important to us we will make time not excuses. We cannot continue to make excuses for why we can’t get it done but focus on all the reasons why we must make it happen.
I too made excuses for countless things in my life. I wanted to do so much and make my dreams come through, but my main excuses were money and time. When I was starting out and getting my ideas together for my brand, I would always push it back and begin to make excuses for myself. I would have all these great ideas and set goals for myself, but I would always make an excuse such as ‘grad school is picking up too much of my time’ or ‘I work seven days a week, I’m tired’ and find unimportant reasons not to work towards my brand. Then I begin think about how much time I wasted on social media or playing candy crush or sitting around doing nothing. Then I realized that all the time I wasted doing unproductive things could be used towards activities that aligned with my aspirations.
We can get a lot more done if we just… GET IT DONE or like Nike, JUST DO IT. We need to stop being so analytical and trying to create excuses or reasons on why we can’t get things done. Less time we have for excuses the more time we will have for our goals. Anything is possible once we focus on what is important to us such as our health, family, relationships, friendships and even ourselves. Excuses create unwanted problems that we will not have solutions for. So go ahead and get to it and don’t make any excuses.
